The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) is currently revising the EU Ecolabel criteria for tourist accommodation and camp sites. This revision aims to ensure the EU Ecolabel remains a trusted and effective tool for promoting sustainable tourism .

This is relevant news for the PEF Hotel Accommodation community: as outlined in our FAQ, the EU Ecolabel and the PEF method are complementary: The EU Ecolabel recognises best-in-class environmental performance, while the PEF method provides the underlying science-based accounting framework to measure and communicate environmental performance across the full product lifecycle. Furthermore, the first draft PEFCR for Hotel Accommodation service has been considered in the EU Ecolabel criteria revision Tourist Acommodation.
